Huntington Lake Dam Spillway Refurbishment

Huntington lake Spillway was constructed in 1919 and is used to control lake outflows from Huntington to nearby Shaver Lake and our clients Big Creek Hydroelectric project. The spillway and its gates were initially coated with lead-based paint that has begun to fail in recent years. SR Diversified arrived on site in late August to begin the remediation process and the removal of the gates. The gates were transported to Missouri for stripping and coating by a specialized contractor while the spillway structure was abated and coated in place. This was a challenging project to maintain schedule. These challenges included maintaining the lake at recreational water levels prior to our mobilization, working at over 7,000’ feet altitude, and completing the project prior to winter storm season!
